What is the pressure rating of the Mitos FREE FLOW Valve?
The pressure rating of the Mitos FREE FLOW Valve is 60 psi ambient, and 40 psig steam.
What materials can I run through the FREE FLOW Valve?
The Mitos FREE FLOW Valve can process high and low viscosity liquids and suspensions. This means you can run anything from acid, media and cell culture to ketchup and salsa. Even live fish!
What is the advantage of using a Mitos FREE FLOW Valve versus a diaphragm valve?
There are many advantages to using a FREE FLOW valve instead of a diaphragm valve. The most important difference between the two is that the FREE FLOW valve has a completely straight-through bore. In other words, if you were to look through the bore, you would be able to see all the way through the bore. Without internal weirs or seals, the FREE FLOW valve eliminates turbulent flow and minimizes product loss due to cell shear. The straight-through bore also makes the FREE FLOW valve drainable in any position, eliminating complex installations.
In addition, the FREE FLOW valve features a molded tubing element with integrated gaskets. This coupled with the straight-through bore eliminates seams and crevices that can be hiding places for unwanted contaminants. As the tubing element is the only wetted surface of the valve, all product contact materials can be disposed of easily and quickly. With three choices for tubing element materials (ie, platinum-cured silicone, STA-PURE®, CHEM-SURE), you can be confident that you have the best match for your fluid-handling system.
